Cozy Weekends

Part two of my collaboration with Justine, Kelsee and Meaghan.

I am a summer-hot-weather girl at heart but I can't deny that fall and winter are coming.
The heat may be back this week but once it gets cold, Jeff and I will be enjoying mornings like this again. And yes, that's actually hot chocolate in his cup.

See more photos here.

Breakfast in Bed

I can't believe I haven't shared this fun project yet! I worked with Justine Miller and Kelsee from Ivy and Gold Photography to style a fun cozy morning for me and Jeff. Talented makeup artist, Meaghan Levy gave me an "I woke up like this" glow. Jeff was a mostly willing participant and I am so glad he agreed because I love these photos of us. I know everyone loves the weekend but I really love the weekend. Unless we have plans, we usually sleep in, sometimes we visit the Saturday Market, and there is always coffee.
I'll share part two tomorrow.

behind the scenes

Here is a real behind the scenes look into my camera roll on my phone. Kind of embarrassing right? I mostly take photos on my iphone and I always end up taking so many more photos than are necessary. I'm sure some of you have seen my husband's instagram. He started taking photos of me taking photos to keep himself busy (while I take a million photos) and to show me how ridiculous I look while taking photos. I think it's really funny. Sometimes I don't realize how crazy I look until I see his photos. It keeps me humble and it's a good reminder that this social media platform is just a slice of life. I hope you know that I only share the very best of what's happening in my life and often times most photos are staged, like this one. Sometimes I start to compare myself to other bloggers and instagrammers which can be discouraging or make me feel greedy for wanting more than I have. But like I said, this is only part of my life and I can only assume other's are only sharing part of their life as well. During this time of year {and all year} it's a good reminder to not take myself too seriously, try not to play the comparing game, and be grateful for my wonderful life.
How do you feel about social media life vs. real life?

the first year

Happy one year anniversary to my sweet husband!

Technically tomorrow (Sunday, Sept. 7th) is our anniversary but we are celebrating all weekend.

I could watch our wedding video over and over all day. Actually that's basically what we did when Grant sent it to us when we were still on our honeymoon. While I'm sure most people have seen our wedding photos on other sites, I haven't shared many here. In honor of our first year of marriage, I'll be sharing some of my favorite photos from our wedding day.

On a more serious note about our first year of marriage.
It's been a crazy first year of marriage for us and I'm so glad I had Jeff by my side. We had a lot of transitions to work through in the first six months, none of them directly related to our marriage, but isn't everything related to our marriage now? The first six months were hard. They say the first year is hard but I don't think they meant this. Unexpected career changes, family changes, friends going through hard experiences. I am so glad we had each other. In the last six months things have been on an upswing and I feel like we are finally living the life we are supposed to be living! Recently we both went through transitions to better jobs and even though I don't like transitions, it was one of those positive changes. While it is crazy to think of how many things have changed in just the last year, I am so happy to be celebrating our first year of marriage. I said in my vows that Jeff taught me about unconditional love and that was never more evident than in our first year of marriage.
Here's to many many more years!

boho fringe + five years

Forever 21 fringed sweater {similar}, Free People slipdress {borrowed from my sister}, Madewell coated denim, Vince Camuto wedges, Heather Belle Niki cuff c/o Favery, Fossil watch, Anthropologie feather cuff, Nordstrom BP panama hat

Happy Labor Day!
I'm grateful to have this day off, I'm looking forward to helping Jeff finish up his classroom.

I wore this outfit this weekend and I want to wear it everyday. Thanks to my sister for letting me borrow this tank {or dress if you're her} before she went back to school.
I've been drooling over it all summer!

I was at work on Friday and realized that it was Jeff and my fifth dating anniversary! I've been so focused on our wedding anniversary next weekend that I almost forgot out dating anniversary. How soon I forgot! Since we remembered that day we kept it low key and it was great.
Jeff took these photos for me, we had sushi for dinner and we saw Guardians of the Galaxy. It was a great way to celebrate five years of being together. Five years! I'm a lucky woman.
