happy birthday oregon

I want to wish a belated Happy Birthday to our beautiful sweet Oregon!

I was inspired by the big 156 to stop by the capitol to snap some photos.
There were at least three news crews there due to the latest Oregon drama. I'm sure I'm embarrassing myself {and Jeff} by being in the background of their broadcasts taking outfit photos.
Oh well, that's life.

On another note, I love that Oregon's birthday is on February 14th. Love.

a-line skirts

H&M skirt {similar}, Loft chambray softened shirt, Zara heels {similar, similar}, Urban Outfitters sunnies, American Apparel clutch, Heather Belle cuff c/o Favery

This is one of my favorite types of outfits when I'm not wearing jeans. I wear this skirt to work ALL the time. I love the length, the pockets, and the forgiving cut. I'm looking for it in white, any suggestions? Also, this is the comfiest chambray!

Ps. Happy Veteran's Day.
Thank you to all those that have served and all those currently serving.
It's small, but I heard that Starbucks is giving a free house coffee to veterans today. go get it!

simple style

Madewell jeans, sweater and bag, Target necklace {similar}, Old Navy camo jacket {similar}, Zara Heels {similar}

You might have seen this photo on my instagram and on Glitter Guide's instagram.
Last weekend I went to Justine's for coffee. We got to talking about home decor and style, it's always fun to talk and dream about all the things we'd do to our apartments if we had an unlimited budget! But when we talked about style, it made me realize that my style has changed so much in the last few years. I'm sure some of you are thinking, duh, that's how trends and style works.

I think this outfit is a perfect example of how simplified my style and outfits have become. I used to wear a lot more layers and accessories but now I'd much rather wear something simple.

faux warm

Target tunic sweater, Nordstrom BP scarf, Zella leggings, Steve Madden boots,
Target hat and socks, Urban Outfitters sunglasses

If you live in Salem, you know it snowed on Friday morning! It's so beautiful! I used to hate snow because I always felt stuck {parent's house is on a few big hills}. Now that Jeff and I live in a place where we can walk to the grocery store, three coffee shops, numerous restaurants, etc, I feel a lot better about the beautiful snow. It's been really fun to walk most places this weekend. Once we were able to drive again we bought some decorations and decorated our first tree! And I made a wreath earlier this week at a work function, and on Friday night I watched The Holiday while drinking pear cinnamon cider {from Trader Joe's}, so I pretty much went all out on the Christmas/winter activities this weekend.

I'm going to be honest, my hands and toes were freezing after standing outside for about 10 minutes to take these photos! After we took them, I went back inside, put on my puffy coat and switched into my snow boots. So I won't even pretend I could actually wear this outfit without a few more layers.
Stay warm everyone!

white jeans

thrifted sweater, J. Crew toothpick jeans, Arizona booties

While I wore all black in the last post, today is all about light bright neutrals.
I've been wanting a pair of white jeans but white jeans are tough!
They have to be the right fit and thickness so they don't show too much.. yikes. I found these on the sale rack at J.Crew, they didn't have my size and while at first I declined the saleswoman's offer to search other stores, she looked them up online and they were still full price {Since the rest of the world is still wearing white jeans but not us in the PNW}, she offered to call and let the online peeps know the in store sales price so they could match it for me and THEN it was 40% off all sale stuff. I accepted her offer to make the call.
These jeans were 17.99 and free shipping. Best day ever.

Paired with my chunkiest biggest warmest sweater and booties, that's all.

PNW Blogger Meet Up:outfit

Leith t-shirt from Nordstrom Savvy, Merona jeans from Target, Old Navy cap toe flats, Vintage Coach bag, Target jacket and necklace, Urban Outfitters sunnies, Water Avenue coffee

I wore this to the PNW Blogger Meet Up a few weekends ago. It was a simple outfit and I wanted to feel comfortable since it was an all day event, meet up 10-1, lunch, shopping, all that fun stuff. I'm in a neutral phase right now, not wearing much color and wanting to feel comfortable and warm but trying to still look put together. I don't know if it's laziness or the weather change but let's also blame
day light savings.

Thanks to Justine for these photos!

Sister time part 2

Dress & Jacket: F21, Shoes: Target

Kate and I both bought leather jackets on Friday. Here is hers! She also bought this dress, so fetch. And yes I did a top bun on her hair, not an easy feat if you know how much hair this girl has. Again, how amazing does my baby sister look? It was so fun having some sister time.
